The 53RD COLLECTIVE: Thai Yong Wong

I finally tried my hand at street photography, not least because I wanted to provide some insight into daily life in Singapore as I saw it. I found myself really struggling to find a cohesive theme while I was shooting, but looking back I think it's because of how diverse the country is. I began to embrace the diversity and abandon the entire idea of representing a single idea, because Singapore as I perceived it couldn't be represented by any single theme besides diversity itself. The collection therefore features the young and the old, the city and the suburbs, and well, everything that Singapore encompasses. Perhaps I'll endeavour to stick to a single theme the next time I attempt to capture Singapore, but as a matter of introduction to this place I call home, I could think of nothing more appropriate than this.
