12x53 Documentary Round Award Winner

Elias Awada

Winning shot as chosen by Fujifilm X-Photographer, Stephan Geyer

Stephan Wrote:

"This is an outstanding documentary image in the way that it can tell many stories, yet it almost always evokes a sense of future hope no matter what the background story it is you make for it.

This photo actually frames a kid of a non-descript origin or gender - just a kid - as he looks out to one of the modern symbols of new beginnings and hope, the Statue of Liberty. In the middle of the frame as well, almost as a topical intruder we have a seagull, or for the purpose of this story, a white bird which only adds to this view of potential new beginnings.

We are observing right behind the kid, and we can't help but correlate this image to current American politics and some of the key controversial topics, immigration.

A superb documentary shot. Great image, Elias!"

Final words

Stephan wanted to deliver this final note to ALL who entered this months competition.

Thank you
I'd like to thank each and everyone of you for making the 4th Round of @_53mm_ Competition 'Documentary Round' a great success.
I looked at every single one of your photos several times and I'm humbled by the great quality of your submissions, many of which could easily have been winners and runners up in their own right - you made it a tough selection process!
It was a true pleasure and thank you all!
